The EU Blue Card

The EU Blue Card that was introduced on 1 August 2012, offers specialists in occupations where there is a shortage of skilled workers, the right to work and stay in the European Union.  Applicants must have been offered a job with a salary above a specific limit: €44,800 or, for certain vocations, €36,192. Moreover, they must furnish proof that they hold a university degree that is recognised in Germany. A further advantage of the Blue Card is that applicants and their families do not have to complete a German language course before coming to the country.

As for all other residence permits, the application for a Blue Card is usually submitted as part of a visa application. That means the customary long processing times.  Here too, we can significantly reduce the time this process takes and enable your employee to enter the country quickly.

We will be pleased to advise you on whether the Blue Card is in fact the right residence permit for your employee. For example, only a normal residence permit is a possibility for temporary postings abroad or for staff exchanges.
