The EU Blue Card
The EU Blue Card that was introduced on 1 August 2012, offers specialists in occupations where there is a shortage of skilled workers, the right to work and stay in the European Union. Applicants must have been offered a job with a salary above a specific limit: €44,800 or, for certain vocations, €36,192. Moreover, they must furnish proof that they hold a university degree that is recognised in Germany. Settlement Permit
One new regulation is that holders of an EU Blue Card can now apply for a settlement permit after just 33 months of working in Germany in employment that is subject to social security contributions.
